His infallibility is an inherent part of the post and then-Cardinal Ratzinger made sure everyone knew that in 1995. The original statement was appropriately based on the Bible and since God wrote the Bible and speaks through the Pope, God apparently doesn't want women to be priests.

I prefer the term "recovering Catholic," having spent several years in Catholic school and classes through confirmation. I have found my way and the Catholic Church is the furthest thing from the comfort of the spiritual home I now inhabit.

But thanks for the offer.

blisschick - thanks for taking a look. Now put that "follow" widget on your blog so I can officially add you (will add to Linktastica! in the coming days).Ricky Shambleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09507937845795960725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21516766.post-3533373846874090942008-11-18T17:17:00.000-05:002008-11-18T17:17:00.000-05:00"Douchey" as that priest may be (and I would use s..."Douchey" as that priest may be (and I would use stronger language, actually, to describe him), for every one like him, there are countless nuns and monks and, yes, priests doing and saying the "right" thing every day. Like Fr. John Dear and his message of utter nonviolence. Or some of the priests I worked with in Pax Christi who embraced all fellow travelers, "even" lesbians like myself.

Organized religion is not at fault, but it is the PEOPLE doing the organizing -- including those of us who leave rather than stay and help. I count myself here, so I don't mean to be offensive at all!

Thanks for reading the Jennifer interview. Catholicism is anything but dying. The Church grows by over 18 million worldwide each and every year.

>"The last pope invoked infallibility, basically saying that God doesn't want women to be priests."

Nope. The Pope stated that the Church has no authority to ordain women. Big difference.

>"The Catholic church has lost Jesus, and God only lives in the churches because God lives everywhere"

Hardly, but regardless of the truth, its your opinion and your blog.

Also, you strike me as perhaps a lapsed Catholic. If so, I invite you to reconsider the Church and return home. If not, I invite you to discover what the Catholics truely teach and believe.

http://www.catholicscomehome.org

God bless... +TimothyTimothyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06992217665437521336noreply@blogger.com
