Kidd Video: What the Hell Was I Thinking?

I used to watch a show called Kidd Video on Saturday mornings in the early/mid 80's. It was about a teenie California band that was opted by Master Blaster, leader of Flipside, through a mirror during one of their rehearsals. He pulled them through, Zod-style, into a cartoon world. Sorry, no token black in this one.

What the fuck was I thinking? For fuck's sake!

Then again, Dungeons & Dragons was also my bread & butter:

But that I can respect. Right?

Hey..back in those days we had to take what we could get. Dungeon's and Dragons was wicked cool and still holds up today. With all the other crap that was shown at the end of the age of network cartoons we had no right to expect this quality show. Was it wrong that I had a crush on the girl with the thigh highs and invisibility cloak.

Of course you may respect the D&D cartoon! Did you know the box set has a live action bit? Frighteningly bad.

... Dungeon Master!

But Kid Video, that is such a blast from the past. I had nearly (thankfully) forgotten all about it.

Gotta respect the D&D cartoon.

And no, Cal, it was all good. Who didn't?

As for cartoon crushes: I remember being about 7 and my dad brought home a promo cell for Spiderman and His Amazing Friends featuring Firestar. And I remember one day staring at Firestar in that "photo" and being moved to tears because she was so pretty and I'd never get to meet her in person.

I'm guessing this had something to do with the evolution of my penchant for red-headed women.
